Anticipated Books of September 2022

August is almost over, so it’s time for my look at my most anticipated books of September!  Get those library holds and pre-orders ready! I haven’t read any of these yet but am looking forward to checking them out.

Here they are by US pub date:

The Most Likely Club by Elyssa Friedland (9/6) - As a 1990s high school grad myself, looking forward to this funny sounding book about a group of high school friends who decide at their high school reunion to try to achieve their long ago “most likely to” accolades.

Imposter by Bradleigh Godfrey (9/13) - This thriller is bookstagrammer Bradeigh Godfrey's solo debut.  (She had her rom com debut with The Beach Trap this summer as one half of duo Ali Brady.) It’s about two estranged sisters - one is on her way to meet the other with an important secret to share when she is in a car accident and suffers a traumatic brain injury.

The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman (9/20) - I absolutely love this series wherein a group of friends in a retirement home in England solve murders.  They’re funny but yet dark and good mysteries, not quite cozy mysteries but more fun than some mysteries.  So can’t wait for this third in the series!

Drunk on Love by Jasmine Guillory (9/20) - I never miss a new Jasmine Guillory romance!  Per the publisher, it’s about a woman helping to run her family’s winery when her life is complicated by the discovery that her one night stand is the winery’s new employee.

The Matchmaker’s Gift by Lynda Cohen Loigman (9/20) - Hearing great things from my friends who have read early copies of this one!  It’s a dual time period historical novel, about a Jewish matchmaker in the early 1900s, and her divorce lawyer granddaughter in modern times.

The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik (9/27) - This YA fantasy series use set in a very creepy school for magic that brings new meaning to the term dark academia.  I loved the first two books, and can’t wait for this one, especially since the second book ended on quite the cliffhanger!  I don’t think there are any early copies of it out there, so no one knows much about it!

Shrines of Gaiety by Kate Atkinson (9/27) - I love Kate Atkinson’s historical novels and I love her mystery novels, and this sounds like it brings a bit of each to this story set in 1920s London.

Well That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q Sutanto (9/27) - love her two Dial  A fur Aunties books, and looking forward to this totally separate YA rom com.  Per the publisher, it’s about an American teenager taken to Indonesia where she ends up fake dating the son of a wealthy family there.  If it’s even half as funny as Dial A, I’ll be happy!

Are any of these on your to-read list?  Any other books publishing in September 2022 that you're excited for?  (And yes, I know that the book many of you are most excited for is The Winners by Fredrick Backman, but I haven’t read any of the Beartown books, don’t come for me. 😂)
