Anticipated Books of March 2022

Bringing you my anticipated books for March early since I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow. I haven't read any of them yet, and indeed I don’t even have copies of some of the ones I’m most excited for because Netgalley rejected me. 😢. But hopefully I will be reading a lot of them next month!

Anticipated Books of February 2022

Another month, another set of books publishing that I am excited to read!  And the TBR list gets longer and longer...  Here are the books coming out in February 2022 that I'm most excited for.  Although I have advanced copies of some of them, I haven't read any of them yet - but hopefully will be reading a lot of them next month!

Jen's Top 10 Books of 2021

Super-excited to bring you my top 10 favorite books I read in 2021!  And boy, did I agonize over this list!  I’ve been making top 10 lists since all the way back in 1999 (back when I used to just share my list with a few friends), but somehow it never gets easier!  In fact if anything, maybe it gets harder as I read more and more books over the years.

As a reminder, these are books I read in a particular year, not necessarily books which were published that year - though as it turns out, all but one of this year’s list was published in 2021.  For the first time ever, I only had one 5 star book for the year!  I try to reserve 5 stars for the most amazing books that I know will be all time favorites, and this year even though I read 173 books, there was only one book that felt like it deserved 5 stars - Project Hail Mary.  However, I had 21 books which I gave 4.5 stars to, which is what made narrowing down my top 10 so hard, so perhaps I’ll also be sharing with you a “best of the rest” or a best of various genres.

Without further ado, my ten most favorite of the year, listed in alphabetical order by author’s last name:

Mary Jane - Jessica Anya Blau
Trophy Son - Douglas Brunt
Cloud Cuckoo Land - Anthony Doerr
Early Morning Riser - Katherine Heiny
Klara and the Sun - Kazuo Ishiguro
True Crime Story - Joseph Knox
Once There Were Wolves - Charlotte McConaghy
Detransition, Baby - Torrey Peters
West With Giraffes - Lynda Rutledge
Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir

Read on for a little more about each book:

Anticipated Books of January 2022

It’s almost the end of the year, crazy!  I’ve already brought you my overall most anticipated books of 2022, but now I will return to my regularly scheduled programming of each month bringing you my most anticipated reads of the following month  - so I can include even more books!

Usually my anticipated reads are a mix of books that I have ARCs of and those that I have to wait until publication, but this month I’m lucky enough that I have Netgalley ARCs of all of them.  However, I made a decision to save all of my 2022 books until 2022 to try to catch up a little on my backlist, so I haven’t read any yet!  The books are listed below in order of US publication date.

Anticipated Books of 2022

I have always been someone who enjoys looking at what books are coming out and planning what to read almost as much as I love reading, so for the past several years since I started this blog, I always like to bring you a list of my most anticipated books of the next year.  (And I’m happy to report that I managed to read every single book on my Anticipated Books of 2021 list.)

This past year, I have taken a different approach and also brought you monthly posts about my most anticipated books of the following month.  I will definitely continue doing that next year.  But there are just so many books I’m super-excited about coming out in 2022 that I thought I’d still give you a preview of some of the top books I’m looking forward to. It was so hard to narrow it down that these are all books by authors who I’ve already read and loved, though there are definitely some great sounding debuts coming next year too!  To narrow it down, I also only included a book if it had a set release date and a cover, which eliminated some potential books allegedly coming towards the end of the year. There are literally dozens of more books I’m already looking forward to besides those listed here, just another reason I’ll also continue my monthly posts about anticipated books.

But in the meantime, here are the 2022 releases that I’m most looking forward to, so you can go ahead and request from Netgalley/get on the library waitlist/pre-order them if they interest you too!  I am lucky enough to have ARCs of a few of these, but since I decided to hold all my 2022 advanced copies of books until 2022 to get through some of my backlog, I haven’t read any yet!

Here they are, listed in order of currently scheduled US publication date, which is listed in parentheses after the title and author of each book.

Anticipated books of November 2021

Hard to believe October is almost over already!  Here are the books being published in November that I’m most excited for. For my November reading, I’m planning to do both a No Buy November and a Netgalley November so luckily there aren’t too many and I have Netgalley ARCs of four of the six so I can read them this month within the challenge! (That is, I'm going to spend November reading books I already own, and primarily all books I got from Netgalley but haven't gotten around to reading yet).

Anticipated Books of October 2021

Hard to believe September is almost over!  It has been a busy month for me personally and October looks to be just as busy!  Anyway, since October is drawing near, here are the books I’m most looking forward to which are being published in October 2021 - US pub dates indicated in parentheses.  I’m actually thankful that the list of books I’m excited for is shorter this month, because I still have a lot of other books to catch up on!  I haven’t read any of them yet, though I do have ARCs of a few so hopefully will soon!
